About Janakuasa
Our story
Janakuasa’s history begins in the nineties, with its founder’s first success — a 650 MW gas-fired combined-cycle plant in Perlis, Malaysia.
Three power projects across Malaysia and Vietnam since the nineties, and since 2019 a venture arm investing beyond generation.
Janakuasa's history begins in the nineties with its founder's first success: the completion of a USD 600 million, 650 MW gas-fired combined-cycle plant in Perlis, Malaysia.
Three decades and two projects later, Janakuasa has achieved financial closure for two Vietnam-based power plants — a USD 2.5 billion, 1,200 MW coal-fired plant in December 2015, and a USD 180 million, 78 MW wind power plant in October 2019.
In 2019, Janakuasa began looking beyond power to achieve its mission of empowering the world's next billion people. Its new venture arm is developing businesses that aim to supercharge local economies and the communities they support.
